Tech tAUk September 17, 2011 – Bon VoyJobs Edition

Tech tAUk is back, and better than ever on our Season 3 premiere! Decked out with new graphics, a new theme song, and benched from space, we dedicate this episode as a tribute to former Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

After opening the show with a singing tribute to Jobs, we look back at the accomplishments that Steve Jobs has made through Apple and NeXT to the computing industry and to our modern society. We then follow that up with our latest Grate Da Bait about Apple’s future without Jobs at the helm. We then veer off a bit as Josh discusses the unique relationship between Steve Jobs’ health and Apple’s stock value, and then our crew member Mitch Stover joins Douglas to talk about the controversy that arose this summer over Final Cut Pro X. (For more, check out Douglas’ Review of Final Cut Pro X.) Finally, we close out the show in Weschler Theater, where we receive a visit from a special “guest.”

Whether you’re a Jobs-aholic or simply looking for a job, we’re sure you’ll enjoy our season premiere of Tech tAUk. It’s good to be back!

About Douglas Bell

I live in Washington, D.C., and work as a Broadcast Technician at WAMU 88.5 FM, the local NPR affiliate in the Washington metro area. My primary shift is to engineer the local feed of NPR’s Morning Edition, including local news and weather, long-form features and station breaks… and yes, the shift starts at 5 am, so I’ve got the whole quasi-nocturnal thing going on. I am also the Coordinating Producer for Ken Rudin’s Political Junkie, an independently-produced podcast and public radio program. Extracurricularly, I play cello, and participate in a church choir and a handbell choir. I enjoy discovering new places, and am constantly searching for the perfect cheeseburger. I am also known as a frequent teller of puns.
